Diners on the upper level are offered a gorgeous view of the Marina Bay waterfront, and with Tong Le being one of only two restaurants in Singapore housed in a revolving tower, they complete one panoramic tour within two hours.

PROFILE

Tong Le Private Dining is operated by Tung Lok Group, which owns and manages more than 40 prominent restaurants in Singapore, Indonesia, China, Japan and India. The restaurant opened in 2012, in the OUE Tower, a restored heritage building. The cuisine is essentially premium Chinese. There is also an eight-seat sushi bar, Sushi Mieda Singapore, which is in collaboration with renowned Japanese kaiseki master chef Nobumasa Mieda, who is based in Hokkaido; Keisuke Ohno is the chef in charge.

Braised dried Australian abalone in abalone jus.

AMBIENCE

Level 10 of the restaurant offers diners a selection of eight exclusive dining rooms as well as four cosy dining areas. Chic, dark wood furniture in the restaurant exudes elegance. Level 8 offers three luxuriously furnished rooms, complete with karaoke facilities stocked with over 60,000 songs. Styled by The Link Home, each private room on this level is decorated with distinctively designed plates and cutlery.

SERVICE

As befits a private dining establishment, the service is very personal and respectful, tending towards old-fashioned courtesy.

FOOD

A number of set menus are offered, the listing changed on a monthly basis and also to take advantage of seasonal items. Lunch menus include a dim sum menu. Most of the menus are for a minimum of two persons. The cuisine is essentially classic-cum-modern Chinese, with top quality ingredients, but the kitchen is skilled in infusing items such as truffles when in season, for which there is a special menu. A hairy crab menu is presented during the season. There is also a vegetarian menu. The wine list is very extensive and varied.

SUMMARY

The revolving restaurant is certainly a huge attraction, as is the idea of private dining, and this is very much a venue to impress.
