Omya, meaning beautiful is a soulful narration of India’s evolving culinary ‘yatra’. Omya is the speciality Indian restaurant at The Oberoi Delhi offering a wide introduction to the Indian culinary landscape. All dishes are inspired by India’s rich culinary heritage.

PROFILE
Located at the end of the hotel’s entrance corridor, Omya welcomes guests with views of the three impressive tandoori ovens in the show kitchen. The restaurant is sophisticated with a nod to traditional Lutyens design.

MUST TRY: Malabar pepper chicken, braised chicken with caramelised onion, black peppercorns and curry leaves; malabar paratha and Gunpowder crusted fish spice marinated bekti, millet khichdi, lemon coconut broth.

AMBIENCE
Bathed in a neutral colour palette from the stone floor to the coiffured ceiling, the restaurant’s rich Indian fabrics and tasselled brass chandeliers create an ambience that reflects the traditional menu.

SERVICE
The impeccable and professional service comes with a degree of formality but is never obtrusive.

FOOD
The culinary philosophy at Omya is created by its mentor, acclaimed London based Chef Alfred Prasad and pays tribute to the incredible culinary evolution and local cuisines that have spawned across the vast Indian subcontinent over the centuries. Omya presents a gastronomic journey, bursting with Indian flavours and modern twists making it an interpretation of traditional Indian food with international flair. Despite all the modern twists and interpretations, Chef Prasad remains true to the authentic cooking methods, flavours and the refined spicing of homestyle regional Indian food.

The cuisine showcases locally sourced ingredients that are expertly balanced to produce clean flavours and textures with a strong Indian spirit at its core; Avadhi pulao served with scotched quail eggs on top, juicy burrahs beautifully charred served with pomegranate-glazed baby veggies, mushrooms in three different tandoori marinades, aloo tuk—even and Parmesan naans.

PRICING
INR 9,000 plus taxes average cost for two.

SUMMARY
Serving Indian cuisine in India is one of the greatest challenge but Omya, offering an avant-garde yet authentic Indian dining experience with a focus on simplicity, purity, and seasonal flavours remains a traditional Indian restaurant and definitively not a modern fusion one.
