Widely regarded as one of the best Indian restaurants in Bangkok, Rang Mahal excels in authentic, Indian fine dining cuisine.
AMBIENCE
The Indian contemporary setting is very Maharaja-like and offers stunning views of Bangkok from its sky-high location. The dining room itself is classically styled with white colonnades and chandeliers, surrounded by divans and cushions. The floor-to-ceiling windows allow patrons to enjoy the unique cityscape views. The main dining room has Indian music, which can be loud to some ears, but there are smaller rooms for a quieter meal.
MUST TRY:
The signature dish of Roganjosh Kashmiri, a rich pot roasted mutton, and the Makhanwalla chicken, which is thick with the flavor of ghee (clarified butter) stand out.
SERVICE
The waiting staffs are discreet but very attentive and the whole atmosphere of the restaurant can’t be more elegant. The waiters are very polite and will assist you with your order if you are not familiar with Indian dishes.
FOOD
Diners can select from sets of delicious menus starting from appetizers such as Punjabi samosas, and toothsome deep-fried triangles of puff pastry packed with spicy potato and peas. When it comes to main courses, there are favorites like Mutton Awadh Korma, mutton cooked in the Mughal style, or tender grilled lamb marinated in rum, herbs, and spices, and also Murgh Tikka Masala, tandoori chicken cooked in a wok. If you prefer to order a la carte, specialties like Goan Fish Curry which is fresh fish cooked in a delicious coconut gravy is the real deal. Desserts include fresh fruits, Masala tea, and coffee.
Rang Mahal offers an authentic Indian Sunday Brunch in which an incredibly large variety of North Indian curries, kebabs, and a selection of South Indian foods are served, every Sunday from 11:00 to 14:30, an exceptional value for money.
